MaMA: The Dysfunctional Family tells the intimate story of one of Rotterdam's most idiosyncratic creative communities. The documentary, directed by Ciska Meister, is a journey through the 23 years MAMA has existed and explores how the organisation's significance for the city of Rotterdam has changed during that time. From the year 2021, those involved look back and forward. Through candid narratives it becomes clear that MAMA is more than just a physical space. It is a family feeling, a philosophy of life, a universe in itself.

De documentaire, geregisseerd door Ciska Meister, is een reis door de tijd en onderzoekt hoe de betekenis van MAMA voor de stad Rotterdam de afgelopen 23 jaar is veranderd.
